The MCM ITP (Materials and Components for Missiles, Innovation and Technology Partnership) is a UK MoD and DGA sponsored research fund open to all Anglo-French companies and Academic Institutions.

MCM ITP Capability Challenges

The MCM ITP develops novel, exploitable technologies for generation-after-next missile systems to solve the capability challenges for future Anglo-French Guided Weapons capability. These broad capability challenges are jointly agreed by the DGA and UK MoD to meet the future military and operational needs for complex guided weapons.

These broad challenges are overarching to the MCM ITP and its domains. They are:

  • Low signature threats
  • High manoeuvrability / velocity threats
  • Threat swarms (land, air, maritime)
  • Future red countermeasures (subject to classification constraints)
  • Complex environment (urban / littoral)
  • Affordable countering of Low cost threats
  • Scalability and Selectability of effects
  • Improved size, weight and power, and through-life cost (SWaP-C)
  • Operational and Through Life Resilience including cyber, GNSS-denial
  • Co-operative weapons
  • Human Machine Teaming
  • Mission Planning and Navigation
  • Improved range (better SWaP, better thrust)
  • Industrial agility – shorter development, production and qualification

To meet the above top-down challenges, MCM ITP Domains have relevant research objectives to provide focus for future proposals and projects.

In addition, the MCM-ITP is open to bottom-up, innovative technology proposals which offer the potential for step-changes in capability delivery.
